General differences
All else being equal, a 900D construction may use heavier yarn and feel more substantial than a 600D construction. In practice, weave density, yarn shape, coating and finish can create significant differences between suppliers and lots.
Structure and hand feel
A lighter or more flexible fabric may suit foldable products and panels that need to turn easily during sewing. A heavier fabric may provide a firmer appearance for structured backpacks, tool bags or sport bags, but it can also add bulk at seams.
Coating and backing
Polyester bag fabric may include a backing or coating that changes hand feel, opacity and resistance to moisture penetration. A denier value should not be used as a substitute for specifying the required backing, colour and surface appearance.
Construction matters
Panel design, lining, foam, reinforcement and stitch construction often influence the finished bag as much as the face fabric. A heavy fabric attached with poorly designed load points does not create a durable carrying system.
How to compare samples
Ask for representative swatches and compare colour, surface texture, stiffness, thickness, coating appearance and behavior when folded or stitched. Confirm the final choice with a controlled sample before bulk production.
